Lloyd Bornstein went into Eisenhower Medical Center for what he anticipated would be a routine hip replacement. But unfortunately, while coming out of anesthesia, Lloyd had a stroke. The stroke occurred on the left side of Lloyd’s brain, affecting the right side of his body and speech.
Lloyd’s wife, Samantha, immediately began researching the best option for stroke rehabilitation in the desert. After speaking with doctors, she determined Vibra Rehabilitation Hospital of Rancho Mirage was the right place for Lloyd’s stroke recovery. Samantha worked hard to make sure her husband got the care he needed.
“It was no easy feat,” she recalled. “But I am so happy that I did because his improvement has astounded his doctors, his family, and the staff here.”
Lloyd significantly improved his speech, mobility, and cognitive aspects during his inpatient rehabilitation stay at Vibra. “Even the therapists who have never worked with him stop and tell us how incredible his improvement has been,” Samantha added.
Samantha noted how impressed she was with the dignity, professionalism, and clinical expertise of the entire Vibra staff.
“A huge shout out to the entire staff here and the administration,” she continued. “And especially to Todd, who runs the therapy department. They are the best therapists I’ve been in contact with, and I am a therapist myself, so I understand what it takes to get people back into good shape to go home. I have absolutely nothing but praise for Vibra, the staff, the nursing staff, and the therapists.”
The experience has been so good for Lloyd that he’s not ready to leave. “My husband is very happy here. He doesn’t want to go home,” Samantha said. “But it’s time for us to go on to the next phase [of his recovery].”
